Children aged 6 months learn to laugh from their parents. This was stated by the American doctors Gene Mirolt and John Sparrow.
Kids are able to perceive humor from six months to 1 year, watching the reaction of parents. Such conclusions were made by researchers observing a group of 30 children. During the study, children had to look at everyday or unexpected things. Earlier, the same things were shown to the parents of babies. Adults had to react while laughing at what they saw, or, conversely, to maintain a serious face expression.
As a result, the kids kept a close eye on their parents when they laughed. Then the children focused on the same situation. The ratio of such factors helps to understand how a sense of humor is formed by the age of 12 months, because already at the age of 1, children themselves, without prompts from adults, laughed at funny things. This means that parents are a source of emotional information for children.
