Many plants have such useful elements,as cardiac glycosides. They contribute to an active tone of the heart vessels and muscles. These are active substances - glycons and aglycons, having a steroid structure. Not the least role is played by lactone rings in aglycons, without the presence of which cardiotonic properties lose their force. In some plants, they are five-membered, and for such, as hellebore, sea bow and others, six-membered.
Here are plants containing cardiac glycosides:
- lily of the valley;
- The strophete;
- an ovary;
The most important substance in cardiac glycosides is aglycone.
In the pharmaceutical nomenclature, there are certain types of medicinal plants, from which cardiac glycosides are made-preparations that improve the functioning of the cardiovascular system.
Cardiac glycosides. Classification
We have already spoken about the lactone ring, which is of considerable importance in cardiac glycocytes. These rings also determine the group to which the glycosides belong.
The first group is bufadienolide havingsix-membered ring. This type of glycosides is found in skin secretions in toads. Used in the pharmaceutical industry only this kind. But plants containing bufadienolides, and about 20 of them, are not used in medical practice.
The second group contains car- bonolides -glycosides, in which the lactone ring is five-membered. This group is found in medicine much more often than bufanodienolides, and has approximately 380 compounds. If the lactone ring of a group such as cardenolides decays under the influence of alkali, then all the properties useful for cardiac muscles will simply cease to exist.
Cardiac glycosides. Preparations
Consider the main drugs, favorablyacting on cardiac activity, and containing aglycons. It is necessary to read the instructions for using such drugs as cardiac glycosides. Drugs of this kind may have an unexpected effect, for example, on the nervous system of the patient.
"Adonisid" is a drug on the basis of the spring Goriets. 1ml of the substance contains 2.7-3.5 KED. It looks like a liquid of a yellowish hue. Specific smell. Bitter taste.
"Herbion" - a drop for the heart, containing aglycons. It is stored for about three years.
"Digalen-neo" is a medicine made fromleaves rusty foxglove. Improves the efficiency of the cardiovascular system. Has a light yellow hue, the taste of the drug is bitter. The reaction is weakly acidic.
"Digoxin" - this medicine has a uniquecomposition of several types of digitalis, one of which is a foxglove fox that has a strong effect on the cardiovascular system. Digoxin is the basic substance contained in a woolly digitalis, namely in its leaves. This glycoside has several names, for example, Lanoral or Oxydigitoxin.
"Cardioval" - this drugincludes a complex of plants containing aclycones, such as jaundice scattered, spreading (extract), concentrated adonidide (85 ICE / ml), liquid hawthorn, and also tincture of valerian and the like. The drug is quite effective and fast.
"Korglikon" - a drug containing several glycosides, made from leaves of the lily of the valley. 1ml of the substance contains 1.8-2.2 KED. The liquid is clear, bitter.
"Lantozide" is a medicinal product from70-percent alcohol, glycosides, taken from the leaves of a woolly foxglove. The liquid is light green in color. The smell of alcohol. The taste is bitter. 1ml contains 1.5-1.6 KED. It is prescribed for heart failure.
"Strofantidine acetate" is a strong preparation, which is available in the form of a powder. It does not dissolve in water. 1 g of strophanthidine acetate contains 4500-5500 KED.
"Celanide" is a genuine glycoside made from the leaves of a woolly foxglove. It has several names, such as "Izolanid" or "Lanacroist".
We learned about a group of drugs called"Cardiac glycosides." These drugs are very strong in their effects on the body. Do not forget that before buying a medicine, you need to consult a doctor, learn about the reaction to a remedy, and also carefully study contraindications and side effects.
