The long existence of a neurotic symptom changes first the function of the organ that implements it, and then the structure of the tissues of this organ. If, in childhood or youth, fear settled in the soul of a person, and over time it did not pass, then with age it develops into a chronic disease of neurotic origin.
A 36-year-old woman came to us with a diagnosis of "vegetative-vascular dystonia". Complaints related to headaches (condition of the hoop, squeezing temples), shortness of breath, chronic colitis, limited mobility due to excessive weight, sweating, depressive state. The course of drug treatment prescribed by a neurologist in the department of affective pathology did not lead to improvement.
In the course of her work, the patient recalled and realized her psychological traumas received during her life. She managed to recall the smallest grievances inflicted on her by her parents and classmates. However, in the hierarchy of offenses, the most powerful turned out to be the one to tell about which interfered with her mixed feelings of shame and fear.
The girl grew up in a rural family. Parents raised her in strictness and early accustomed to peasant labor. After the 8th grade, she entered the pedagogical school and graduated with honors. Becoming a teacher - tutor, she went to work in a large city and settled in a hostel. However, she often came to her parents and once met her future husband, a fellow villager. He was 5 years older, served in the army, worked as a driver and was also going to move to a major city. Courtship, matchmaking and wedding passed without incident. However, the first wedding night for many years has become a source of severe internal conflict. The whole thing consisted in a phrase said by the husband after the first intimacy. Four rude and cynical words, uttered at the moment of greatest vulnerability, settled in the soul pain and resentment.
The marriage did not break up. The young family moved to live in the city. Born two children. However, there was a shock, discouragement and lack of understanding of the reason for which she won such an insult.
As is often the case, the man, because of the peculiarities of his character, did not want a woman to listen and feel her feelings, and sharing with someone was embarrassing and scary - suddenly the family would fall apart.
Intensive psychological therapy lasted more than six months. As a result, the patient raised her self-esteem, restored composure, understood and forgiven her husband, got out of depression, gained physical form. Pressing headaches stopped bothering her.
Fears change behavior, shape expectations, fears affect character and sexual preferences.
The impact of fears on personal development has its far-reaching consequences. Therefore, psychological correction is most effective in the early stages of the formation of the psychosomatic complex. And, on the contrary, the more events have become stratified in a person’s life, the longer and more difficult it is to unravel their interconnection and mutual influence.
